Kempsey Shire Council uses Facebook as more of a promotional tool. If you scroll through the page you’ll see there are a lot of information on what’s happening within Council and our local government area. If we have something that seems to be a ‘hot topic’ or emergency water/sewer main repairs then we’ll post that information too. We do receive a number of messages which are of the same nature as the phone calls we receive; potholes, vandalism, damaged playground equipment etc. These are then logged into our customer request system. If we feel something may be more controversial and we’ll need to refer back to it, then the message is registered as correspondence by our records team.
We haven’t had much success with Twitter. Both accounts are linked so what’s posted on Facebook then appears in twitter.
